Three-time champion Serena Williams advanced to a fourth-round showdown against top-seeded Maria Sharapova at the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Fla.
In a match delayed a day by rain, Williams beat No. 23 Lucie Safarova 6-3, 6-4 Monday. Williams, seeded 13th, will face the top-seeded Sharapova today.
A heckler was removed after making at least one racist comment to Williams.
"The guy said, 'Hit the net like any Negro would.' I was shocked," Williams said.
The final appearance at Key Biscayne by 2005 champion Kim Clijsters ended with a loss to No. 15 Li Na, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Clijsters, seeded fourth, plans to retire this year.
In the men's draw, 89th-ranked Amer Delic upset fourth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko 7-6 (5), 6-3, and top-ranked Roger Federer advanced to the round of 16 with a 7-5, 6-3 win over No. 29 Nicolas Almagro.

UNLV men's team sits third in Texas tourney
The UNLV men's golf team shot even-par 288 to stand third after the first round of the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas.
The eighth-ranked Rebels were just three shots behind leader Kent State (285), with Texas A&M second at 287.
Seung-su Han led UNLV at 2-under 70, putting him in a four-way tie for third, four shots behind leader David Ludlow of Kent State.
Jarred Texter and C.J. Gatto both shot 72 for UNLV.
The tournament has been shortened from 54 holes to 36, with the final round today.

American Hansen wins world breaststroke title
Brendan Hansen walked away with another gold medal in his rivalry with Kosuke Kitajima.
Hansen defended his world championship in the 100-meter breaststroke in Melbourne, Australia, touching first in 59.80 seconds, with Kitajima of Japan right behind in 59.96. Brenton Rickard of Australia earned the bronze.
Michael Phelps was back in the pool for his first individual event, easily advancing to the 200-meter freestyle final.
But the American was second quickest behind leading qualifier Pieter van den Hoogenband of the Netherlands.
American teenager Katie Hoff won her second consecutive world title in the 200 individual medley, clocking 2:10.13.
Also: Telecommunications giant AT&T filed a motion asking that its logo be added to Jeff Burton's car immediately.
Burton is sponsored by cell phone service provider Cingular. AT&T recently took full ownership of Cingular as part of its recent merger with BellSouth and intends to eliminate the brand name.
AT&T sued NASCAR on March 16 after racing series officials refused to allow AT&T to put its logo on Burton's car because of NASCAR's deal with Nextel, which sponsors NASCAR's top series -- the Nextel Cup.
