WHAT'S NEW: Get Cooking

Purchasing cookware benefits charitable cause

The Healthy Kitchen Collection includes a variety of cookware.

Fans of best-selling author and integrative health physician Dr. Andrew Weil can support a charitable cause and pick up some cookware for the kitchen, too.

Bloomingdale's recently launched "The Healthy Kitchen" collection, a selection of cookware and appliances from Spring Switzerland, a division of Waterford Wedgewood, produced under a licensing agreement with Weil Lifestyle.

Bloomingdale's says the pieces in the collection are made of five-ply bonded 18/10 steel, versus the more traditional three-ply construction. In addition, pieces are designed to prevent food from interacting with the aluminum.

The collection ranges in price from $69.99 for a two-slice toaster to $799 for a 12-piece cookware set. Electrics include a juice extractor ($375), a citrus juicer ($125) and a slow cooker ($190), while open stock cookware includes a steamer ($90), a nine-quart covered stockpot ($260) and woks ranging in price from $149.99 to $235.

According to Bloomingdale's, Weil will donate all of his after-tax profits to the Dr. Weil Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to "supporting integrative medicine through training, education and research."

The local Bloomingdale's is in Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
