In Case You Missed It: Channing Tatum spoofs Van Damme’s epic splits

Jean-Claude Van Damme pulled off one of the most epic stunts in cinematic history when he did his famous splits between two Volvo trucks driving in reverse.

The video is a viral darling and already the parodies are coming.

First up, Channing Tatum. On the set of his new movie, “22 Jump Street,” Tatum spoofs Van Damme’s awe-inspiring feat while riding two food carts.

While Volvo’s live test was “to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of Volvo Dynamic Steering,” Tatum’s “test” was set up “to demonstrate the stability and precision of the food carts on the set of ‘22 Jump Street.’ ”

Tatum balances on the two carts being pushed by members of the crew spouting off something about life experiences preparing him to “master the most epic of splits.”

Van Damme leaves us amazed at his strength and flexibility. Tatum leaves us with tragedy and expletives.

I won’t totally spoil it, but while Van Damme’s test was “carried out by professionals in a closed-off area,” Tatum’s test was “carried out by unprofessionals in an open unsupervised area.”

Enough said.
