Abused animal photo upsets Facebook

An Oklahoma animal control officer is under fire after posting a photo of an abused animal she was forced to euthanize on Owasso Animal Shelter’s Facebook page, Wednesday.

“She posted the picture out of anger for a dog so badly abused that she had to put it down,” FOX23 reports.

The shelter’s Facebook friends had mixed feelings regarding the picture and the animal control officer’s accompanying caption.

“I put your dog to sleep today — the dog you threw away like trash,” the officer wrote.

Though some understood her intentions of making people aware of animal abuse, others were not too thrilled to see such horrors popping up in their online feed.

“That’s rough. I don’t think that should be put on Facebook,” one user told FOX23. “Just have a little bit more respect. I love animals and don’t want to get on Facebook and see pictures of dogs like that.”

The shelter has since deleted the post.
