Rockabilly fest kicks off today at the Orleans

Cool cars and hot pinup models will take over The Orleans this weekend.

The four-day Viva Las Vegas returns, offering a plethora of ’50s-era music, fashion and fun.

It’s the largest event of its type and has grown in attendance from 1,200 in 1998 to over 20,000 in 2015.

In a burlesque showcase, ladies will honor the old-school striptease onstage at 6:30, 9 and 11:30 p.m. Friday.

At the pool, more people will take it off for a daily vintage swimsuit competition that starts at 3:45 p.m. The men’s contest is Friday, the couple’s contest is Saturday and the women’s contest is Sunday. The associated “Tiki Pool Party” starts at 9 a.m. daily.

If you want to keep your clothes on, there’s something for that, too.

Up to 1,000 vintage cars will be featured during the Saturday car show portion of the event, which lasts from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot and guitar legend Dick Dale are performing.

More than 100 bands and about 20 rockabilly DJs will provide sounds for the festival.

You can also make your time at the festival permanent with some great ink. Some of the industry’s top traditional tattoo artists will be available from noon to midnight in the Sailor Jerry Tattoo Lounge, hosted by StedFast Tattoo Parlor.
