This week’s 5 best bets for music in Las Vegas

Max and Iggor Cavalera: Return to ‘Roots’

It was like world music for a world on fire. When it was released two decades ago, “Roots,” the seminal, seismic sixth album from Brazilian metallers Sepultura, sounded unlike anything that came before it: intensely percussive, with instrumentation indigenous to the band’s homeland, it’s as dense with exotic, otherworldly rhythms as a rain forest is with vegetation. “Roots” was the last Sepultura album to feature singer-guitarist Max Cavalera, who founded the band with drummer Iggor Cavalera, who’d also depart Sepultura a decade later. Now, the brothers have joined forces for the Max and Iggor Cavalera: Return to “Roots” tour, where they’ll play the album in its entirety. Prepare to get “Dusted” once more at 7 p.m. Monday at LVCS. Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 day of show; call 702-382-3849.

Bayside

“Uncomfortable is so comforting,” Bayside frontman Anthony Raneri sings on “Vacancy,” his band’s latest record. That line pretty much encapsulates these New York City pop punks, who turn emotional duress into a never-ending series of sing-alongs. See them at 8 p.m. Friday at Brooklyn Bowl at The Linq. Tickets are $21.50; call 702-862-2695.

Dumpstaphunk

The Neville family is to funk what the Kraft family is to cheese in a can: a name synonymous with the stuff. With Ivan Neville fronting New Orleans’ Dumpstaphunk, you know this bunch is the real deal. See them at 8 p.m. Thursday at Brooklyn Bowl at The Linq. Tickets are $15; call 702-862-2695.

Huntress

She’s a trained opera singer who once worked as a topless DJ. Nowadays, Huntress frontwoman Jill Janus is a heavy metal banshee who sings about gettin’ it on till death — yours, of course. Take your life into your hands at 10 p.m. Saturday at Dive Bar. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of show; call 702-586-3483.

Lost ’80s Live

The ’80s may have ran, ran so far away, but they cannot hide. Yes, A Flock of Seagulls have taken flight once again, joined by Cutting Crew, Berlin and others on the Lost ’80s Live tour. Get ready to Wang Chung the night away at 9 p.m. Saturday at Mandalay Bay Beach. Tickets are $41.91; call 702-632-7777.
