1 dead, 2 wounded in shooting at Las Vegas apartment complex

A man is dead and two others are wounded Tuesday morning after a shooting at an apartment complex.

Las Vegas police said the shooting happened about 4:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Sherwood Street, near Sahara Avenue, a few miles east of Las Vegas Boulevard.

Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said shots were fired into an apartment complex from a courtyard. Two men and one woman inside the apartment were struck. One man died at the scene.

The other victims were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where they are expected to survive.

Steiber said a silver vehicle was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting, but it’s unclear if the vehicle was linked to the crime.

Police haven’t identified any suspects and Steiber said a motive wasn’t clear as of 7 a.m.
