Car strikes, injures four pedestrians

A motorist believed to be driving while intoxicated lost control of his vehicle late Saturday morning, striking four men on a sidewalk in the central Las Vegas Valley, police said.

Two men remained in critical condition and one in serious condition on Saturday afternoon, Las Vegas police said. The other suffered minor injuries.

Uziel Reyes-Perez, 35, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and transported to the Clark County Detention Center.

According to police reports, Reyes-Perez was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla north at 11:46 a.m. on Veterans Memorial Drive just south of Sycamore Lane when witnesses said he lost control of the car and slammed into the four men who had been walking on a sidewalk.

Injured were Anthony Coca, 58 and Gary Taylor, 53, both of whom remained in critical condition; Brian Kopperman, 48, whose condition was listed as serious, and Martin Lomas, 55, who suffered minor injuries.

The hospital they were taken to wasn't immediately known.
