Convicted killer found dead in prison cell

A convicted Las Vegas murderer killed himself in prison Friday.

Ruben Martinez Arroyo, 34, was found dead in his cell at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs about 4 p.m. Friday, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Arroyo had been imprisoned since May 2012. He was serving a 10-year minimum sentence for a second-degree murder conviction.

Las Vegas police arrested Arroyo in October 2008 for killing 21-year-old Julio Cesar Gonzalez-Hernandez at the Sahara Glen Apartments at 3655 E. Sahara Ave.

Police said Arroyo was angry his ex-girlfriend was dating Gonzalez-Hernandez.
