Henderson man arrested in fatal car crash

A man was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a Sunday crash in which a woman died.

Henderson police said Jeffrey Phelps, 36, of Henderson, crashed a Nissan Altima into a Toyota Camry. A passenger in the Camry, 68-year-old Edith Jamon of Waipahu, Hawaii, was killed.

The head-on crash happened about 7:45 p.m. at Volunteer Boulevard near Executive Airport Drive.

Jamon was airlifted to University Medical Center. She died just before midnight on Sunday.

Phelps walked away from the scene, but was arrested shortly afterward.

He was booked at Henderson Detention Center.
