ICE arrests 45 illegal immigrants with criminal records in Las Vegas

A federal operation led to the arrest of 45 illegal immigrants with criminal backgrounds in Las Vegas over the past week, authorities announced Wednesday.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation, dubbed "Cross Check," led to more than 2,900 arrests nationwide, with 61 in Nevada.

The other 16 arrests in Nevada were in the Reno area, authorities said.

Those arrested in Las Vegas included a 44-year-old Mexican man who had previously been deported after attempting to smuggle marijuana across the border and a 32-year-old Mexican man convicted of attempted lewdness with a child and attempted sexual assault.
