Man kills girlfriend with beer mug, police say

A man killed his girlfriend with a beer mug after an argument in her motor home Thursday, Las Vegas police said.

Dana “Doc” Baker, 61, was arrested Friday after Jennifer Evanson was found bleeding from her head, according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found Baker in a tent in a desert in the 3700 block of Las Vegas Boulevard North, near Lamb Boulevard, with blood on his socks and shorts. They also found a pair of bloody tennis shoes inside his car.

Baker said he and Evanson had gotten into an argument when he hit her over the head with a beer mug seven or eight times.

Baker left her lying on the floor for approximately two hours before she asked him to call 911, according to his statement.

Baker then called 911, grabbed a few belongings and fled the scene because he was scared, according to the report. He said he did not intend to kill Evanson.

He faces one charge of murder with a deadly weapon.
