Man shot during home invasion identified

A man fatally shot by a 71-year-old man during a home invasion was identified Wednesday as 27-year-old Anthony C. Guerra, the Clark County coroner's office said.

Guerra, who had no city of residence listed, died from a gunshot wound to his chest Monday.

Las Vegas police said Guerra was one of several suspects who broke into a home before 8 a.m. in the 2300 block of Westwind Road, near Sahara Avenue and Jones Boulevard.

Police said the homeowner fired at least once at men who broke into his bedroom.

The homeowner was identified to the Review-Journal by a neighbor as Dr. Joseph Piracci. He was not expected to face charges, police said.

One man was arrested at the scene. His name has not been released as of Wednesday afternoon.

One other man fled after the home invasion, police said.
