Man in wheelchair dies in southwest valley after being hit by car

A 56-year-old man in a wheelchair died after being struck by a car Monday morning near Flamingo Road and Duneville Street.

According to Las Vegas police, the man was trying to cross Flamingo Road roughly 10 feet south of Duneville Street, east of Jones Boulevard. He was struck by a Chrysler 300 traveling west just before 11 a.m.

The 56-year-old was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead roughly six hours later.

The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.

It was the 41st traffic related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction.

The collision is still under investigation.
