Police apprehend prisoner who escaped in May

A police task force on Monday captured one of two prisoners who escaped from a central valley work crew in May.

Las Vegas police said Spike Brown, 32, was taken into custody at the Alexis Park hotel, on East Harmon Avenue near Paradise Road.

Brown and Jonathan Jackson were Nevada State Prison inmates on May 9 when they escaped the vehicle they were being transported in on U.S. Highway 95 near the Interstate 15 interchange.

They fled from the vehicle when it pulled over.

Las Vegas police arrested Jackson on May 11.

Brown was arrested by the Criminal Apprehension Team made up of officers with Las Vegas police, Henderson police and the FBI.

Brown was serving consecutive sentences of 48 months to 120 months for possession of stolen property and 12 months to 72 months for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
