Police: North Las Vegas boy in critical condition may have been shot

A 10-year-old boy who may have shot himself in the head was in critical condition Thursday night at University Medical Center, North Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded to the incident shortly before 4:30 p.m. at a home in the 3500 block of Creosote Way, near Gowan Road and Simmons Street, police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said.

No charges have been filed in the shooting, but the mother, Carmen Gustin, was arrested on unrelated misdemeanor warrants. The investigation is ongoing, Coon said.
