Unlicensed group home operator gets probation, fine

A Las Vegas woman who operated an unlicensed group home was sentenced Tuesday to probation, fined $25,000, and ordered to perform community service.

Luzviminda Rosario Jose, 50, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors and was sentenced by senior Las Vegas Justice of the Peace William Jansen, according to the state attorney general’s office, which prosecuted the case.

The investigation of Jose began in May 2012 when state health officials learned two people, a “vulnerable adult” and an elderly woman, were living in the unlicensed facility — a one story home at 6012 Shady Bay Street, near Tropical Parkway and Jones Boulevard.
