Victim suffers gunshot wound to leg near Doolittle Park

Two men fled after shooting another man about 3 p.m. Wednesday near Doolittle Park, police said.

The victim, who was shot in the leg and was being treated at University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, was uncooperative with investigators regarding the shooting, said Las Vegas police Sgt. Erick Wilds.

The shooting occurred at 3 p.m. on Eleanor Avenue, near Kelly Elementary School on J Street and Doolittle Avenue.

Darnell Couthen, a Clark County School District police officer, said no students were involved in the incident and that teachers were eventually allowed to file out of the school after it was placed on temporary lock down.

The neighborhood sits between Lake Mead Boulevard and Owens Avenue, just east of Martin Luther King Boulveard.
