Woman found dead in Southwest home ID'd

The body of a woman found in a home on the southwest side of town has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Las Vegas police received a call about an attempted suicide at 8:15 a.m. Saturday. Upon their arrival to Sleepy Spruce Street, they found Karen Vernel Hevener, 56, of Las Vegas, and she was pronounced dead on the scene.

A man was also in the house was transported to the hospital.

Homicide detectives are investigating. More details are expected to emerge.
