Deputy public defender arrested

Police arrested a Clark County deputy public defender Sunday and booked him into jail on battery domestic violence and coercion charges.

Las Vegas police arrested 49-year-old Stephen Immerman at his house near Charleston Boulevard and Hualapai Way after responding to a domestic violence call, said Las Vegas police spokesman Ramon Denby.

Clark County Public Defender Phil Kohn said Immerman is on leave without pay and his office is investigating the incident. Kohn declined to comment further because it is a personnel issue.

Last September, police arrested Immerman on allegations he was driving under the influence.

When reached by phone on Monday, Immerman declined to comment.
