RENO — Washoe County School District officials are celebrating a jump in the 2013 high school graduation rate.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported figures released Tuesday show 184 more students graduated this spring than in 2012.
Superintendent Pedro Martinez said 3,301 out of 4,593 students from 15 different high schools graduated this year. That brings the district’s high school graduation rate to 72 percent, compared with 69 percent the previous year.
The district’s first-ever 100 percent graduation rate was at TMCC High School, an early college high school. The school graduated 89 seniors.
Martinez has set a goal to achieve a districtwide, 80 percent graduation rate in the next few years.
