Driver dies in Henderson accident; medical episode possible

A fatal car accident in Henderson left Galleria Drive near Marks Street closed for almost three hours Saturday.

A 66 year-old man, who was not immediately identified, drove a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu off the road around 12:30 p.m., according to Henderson police.

The vehicle struck a jersey wall then continued on for more than 200 feet through the intersection, sideswiping a light pole.

The driver was taken to the St. Rose Dominican Hospital, de Lima campus, where he died.

The ongoing investigation indicates that he might have had a medical episode prior to the accident, police said.

There were no passengers in the car, and the Malibu was the only vehicle involved.

If the Clark County coroner’s office determines that the motorist died from the medical episode and not from injuries sustained in the accident, the death will not be considered a traffic fatality.
