Clark County commissioners give county manager a 2 percent raise

Clark County commissioners renewed County Manager Don Burnette’s contract, giving him a 2 percent raise on his base salary.

The unanimous vote came with little discussion, though at the prior commission meeting commissioners had praised Burnette’s performance as part of his annual evaluation.

The 2 percent increase is added to an annual base salary of $203,270.50, under the terms of the contract. The three-year contract expires on Dec. 31, 2017.

Under his contract, Burnette also receives up to $2,000 a month for general expenses of a job-related nature. The county also agrees to cover professional development costs and the costs of maintaining his engineering license, along with the premiums for a $100,000 life insurance policy.

Burnette became the county manager in 2011, and has worked for the county since 1990 in different capacities.
