1 dies in crash near Sahara Avenue, 215 Beltway, highway patrol says

A two-vehicle crash in the southwest valley left one man dead Thursday morning, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported just before 10 a.m. on the right shoulder of the 215 Beltway under Sahara Avenue, trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

Witnesses observed a 54-year-old man driving with the hood of his Hyundai Genesis up in the right shoulder, southbound on the 215 Beltway. The man entered the travel lanes and was struck by a commercial truck in the far right travel lane, Stuenkel said.

The Genesis’ driver was pronounced dead on scene. The truck’s driver was uninjured and remained on scene, Stuenkel said. No charges have been filed.

The right travel lanes were closed after the crash, however they have since reopened.

The Clark County coroner will identify the dead man once his next of kin has been notified.
