1 hospitalized following central valley apartment fire

One person was hospitalized Saturday afternoon following an apartment fire, Clark County Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Kelly Blackmon wrote in a news release.

According to Blackmon, Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue units responded at approximately 12:20 p.m. to reports of smoke in an apartment located at 750 S. Royal Crest Circle. The release said 25 personnel responded, including two battalion chiefs, with four engines and several other response vehicles.

One person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, Blackmon said.

The source of the smoke was determined to be a mattress which had caught fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the cost of the damage has not been determined, Blackmon said.
