Apartment home fire in North Las Vegas leaves eight displaced

A single story fourplex apartment home caught fire in North Las Vegas Sunday morning leaving eight displaced, the North Las Vegas Fire Department said.

The North Las Vegas Fire department responded to a high level structural fire about 4:40 a.m., at 2119 Statz Street, near east Lake Mead Boulevard and Belmont Street, Captain Cedric Williams said.

All four of the apartment homes were evacuated, but two of them are uninhabitable, he said.

“One was lost, the other has smoke damage,” Williams said.

A total of eight people are displaced, three residents of one home and five from the other, he said. The Red Cross is helping those displaced with personal and living assistance.

Both the Clark County and Las Vegas Fire departments assisted in putting out the fire.

The fire was ruled an accident and no injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $140,000.
