Arizona Charlie’s evacuated after suspicious substance found

Arizona Charlie’s on Boulder Highway was evacuated Monday night after a hotel employee found an item that was believed to be a flammable substance in one of the rooms.

Hotel security evacuated the property around 9:40 p.m. and contacted police, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon.

An unknown number of people were evacuated from the property at 4575 Boulder Highway. Gordon said the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and High-Yield Explosive task force responded and made the item safe.

The incident was cleared and the hotel was deemed safe just before midnight, police said. Hotel guests were allowed to return to their rooms shortly after.

No arrests had been made as of early Tuesday morning, Gordon said.
