Arson was cause of North Las Vegas house fire, officials say

North Las Vegas fire officials have determined arson was the cause of a fire that destroyed a single-story home Monday morning.

Firefighters received a call about 11:30 a.m. about a single-story house fire on the 2700 block of Webster Street, near North Las Vegas Boulevard and Civic Center Drive, North Las Vegas Fire Department Capt. Cedric Williams said. Clark County, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas fire departments all responded.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home and extending through the roof, Williams said. Crews had to force entry into the home because of a wrought-iron gate on the front door.

One adult male occupant was at the home during the start of the fire, but was not injured, fire officials said. He has been detained in connection to the fire.

No other injuries were reported. The fire destroyed the home, and the estimated cost of the damage is $100,000, officials said.
