A second vehicle struck a pedestrian Wednesday afternoon in the central valley.
This crash happened about 3:20 p.m. on Tropicana Avenue, just west of the Eastern Avenue intersection. A black sport utility vehicle heading east slammed into a man on a bicycle, Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Michael Rodriguez said.
The bicyclist was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma unit, but his injuries were nonlife-threatening.
The driver stayed on scene.
Less than an hour earlier, a vehicle struck an elderly woman on Tropicana Avenue at the Maryland Parkway intersection. She was not gravely wounded and traffic was cleared shortly after.
