Child playing with matches blamed in Henderson house fire

A fire Friday night in Henderson left six displaced, according to a Henderson Fire Department media release.

Firefighters responded about 10:10 p.m. in the 900 block of Moore Oaks Court, near Galleria Drive and North Boulder Highway, the release said. Arriving firefighters saw smoke coming from the windows of a one-story single family residence and located the fire in a bedroom.

The statement said a 15-year- old girl was home at the time of the fire and was awakened by the smell of smoke. She safely evacuated the home with three other juveniles, ages 1, 8 and 9 years old.

The four juveniles were evaluated for smoke inhalation at the scene and released.

Two adults, four juveniles and two pets were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported.

The fire was caused by a child playing with matches. Damages are estimated at $80,000.
