Critical-injury crash in central Las Vegas Valley

A critical-injury crash shut down traffic Wednesday afternoon in a central valley intersection.

The crash happened about 3:40 p.m. at Washington Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

A motorcyclist and a four-door vehicle were involved, and police said the motorcyclist was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

It was unclear how many people were in the vehicle or whether any were injured.

The wreck’s cause is under investigation, but police said the motorcyclist “may have been driving recklessly moments before the crash.”

Roads were closed in the area for a few hours as police investigated.
