Early morning crash involves Metro patrol car

A portion of the Las Vegas Strip has reopened after a crash involving a Las Vegas police squad car early Wednesday morning, police said.

About 5 a.m., Metro responded to a crash on Las Vegas Boulevard South at Flamingo Road, spokesman Officer Larry Hadfield said. The crash caused a marked police car to run into a wall in front of the Cromwell Hotel, 3595 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

An officer in the patrol car was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Hadfield said.

Northbound traffic at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road was restricted Wednesday morning, police said, but the lanes had reopened by 8 a.m.

No further information was immediately available.

The accident is under investigation by Metro's Traffic Division.
