Fatal stabbing outside thrift store was about woman, police say

A 24-year-old man was arrested on murder charges Wednesday after Las Vegas police said he stabbed another man during a fight over a woman.

Cody James Bradbury was booked at the Clark County jail. Police said he stabbed Bruce Reid outside a Savers thrift store at 3121 Rancho Drive., near Cheyenne Avenue.

According to a Metro report, Bradbury told police he was upset Reid was with his ex-girlfriend, Melodye Powell. He confronted Reid outside the store and kicked over his motorcycle.

Witnesses said Reid punched Bradbury in the face and placed him in a “bear hug.” Bradbury stabbed Reid in the chest before running away, the report said.

Reid died at University Medical Center. His age has not yet been released by authorities.

Metro officers arrested Bradbury after finding him at a bus stop. Bradbury admitted stabbing Reid in an interview with detectives, the report said.

Bradbury has a lengthy criminal history. He is scheduled to be sentenced in May after pleading guilty to attempted theft and also had a warrant for a 2012 case related to possession of stolen property and burglary.

Powell, the woman in the middle of the love triangle, was also charged in the stolen property case, records show.
