Five-car crash critically injures 1 Sunday morning

A five-car crash left one man critically injured in the east valley early Sunday morning, Las Vegas police said.

Police say a Chevrolet Tahoe ran a red light at Lake Mead and Lamb Boulevards just before 3 a.m. The Tahoe hit an Oldsmobile Ciera, which hit two other vehicles. The Tahoe also struck another car.

The 34-year-old Oldsmobile driver, Kurt Alexander, was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The Tahoe driver, J. Guadalupe Fajardo, tried to leave the scene of the crash on foot but was caught by a police officer. Fajardo failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on charges of felony DUI and felony hit and run. He was being held without bail at Clark County Detention Center.

Police were still investigating the crash as of Sunday afternoon.
