Friday night crash leaves teenager seriously injured

A collision left a teenager seriously injured and a woman who left her driving lane arrested on a DUI charge Friday night, Las Vegas police said.

Cynthia Lorenz, 46, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and is facing a single DUI charge, police said. Tyler Farmer, 18, who suffered serious injuries, is expected to survive, police said in a news release.

Lorenz was driving a 2003 Toyota Avalon about 7:45 p.m. when she crossed the double yellow line of Cliff Shadows Parkway, near the intersection with Gilmore Avenue in the far northwest, police said. She was traveling north in the southbound lane.

The 17-year-old driver of the other car tried avoiding the crash, but the 2015 Nissan Versa-Note was hit on the passenger’s side, injuring Farmer, police said.

Farmer was hospitalized at University Medical Center. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
