Henderson woman’s death after Oct. car crash accidental, coroner says

The death of a Henderson woman injured in a car crash last year was ruled an accident by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Las Vegas police said Thursday that they were notified of the coroner’s office determination on April 8. Wendy Martinez, 59, died Feb. 22 at Nathan Adelson Hospice after she developed complications from an automobile collision that occurred Oct. 3, 2015.

Martinez’ death marks the 35th traffic-related death in the Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction this year. Metro’s Accident Investigation Section is still investigating the crash, police said.

Martinez was a passenger in a a blue 1988 Toyota Corolla that was traveling north on Boulder Highway when it struck a white 2009 Toyota Camry that turned left from southbound Boulder Highway to eastbound Indios Avenue.

Metro’s fatal detail, which investigates crashes with critical injuries or deaths, did not investigate on the day of the collision, the department said.
