Home burns in central valley; 1 person sent to hospital

One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation from a burning home in the central valley Wednesday morning, the Las Vegas Fire Department said.

Firefighters arrived at a one-story home near Washington Avenue and Pyramid Drive about 9 a.m.

The home was engulfed in “heavy flames,” and motorists saw the dark smoke during morning commutes.

The department initially said all of the occupants made it out of the home, and no one was injured. But as firefighters got close to extinguishing the fire, the department said bystanders had pulled someone out of the backyard.

That person was taken to University Medical Center.

Additional details were not immediately available.
