Injured missing 13-year-old girl found, airlifted to hospital

A 13-year-old girl who went missing from a trail on Mount Charleston was located Saturday evening and airlifted to a hospital, Las Vegas police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Search and Rescue Unit was called to the scene at the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, after police received a 2:15 p.m. call regarding the girl, who went missing at 10:30 a.m., Metro Lt. Kendell Bell said Saturday.

The girl and her brother were looking for a scenic view for a photograph Saturday morning on the Cathedral Rock Trail when the brother headed back to meet with the family and the girl continued on the trail, Bell said.

Officers located the girl around 5:30 p.m. She sustained head injuries and was taken by helicopter to a hospital, Bell said. Her condition and extent of her injuries were unavailable.
