Big Dog’s Brewing Company, on 4543 N. Rancho Drive, held a benefit and launched a new beer Thursday April 28 in memory of K-9 officer Nicky, who was shot and killed in a March shootout.
The company used the recipe a beer they make called War Dog IPA. Then they added grapefruit in during the fermenting stage.
This batch of beer is small compared to the 38,000 gallons of beer Big Dog plans on making this year but Amanda Koeller, head brewer at the brewery, was excited about making it.
“War Dog is one of my favorites, and I think it’ll be very good.”
