A man was arrested Thursday after being shot in a store he was trying to rob the day before, Las Vegas police said.
Alfonso Montellano, 32, was taken into custody after a bullet was removed from his right hip at University Medical Center. He was charged with four counts of robbery with a deadly weapon and burglary with a deadly weapon.
Police say the robber walked into a store near Desert Inn Road and Eastern Avenue about 11 p.m. Wednesday. He demanded money from the store’s clerk, and the clerk pointed a gun at him. The robber then approached the clerk and the two struggled for the gun. During the struggle a single shot was fired and the robber left the business, officials said.
Montellano took himself to UMC. Hospital personnel contacted Las Vegas police about a man with a gunshot wound who matched the description of the robber.
After being released by UMC, Montellano was booked at Clark County Detention Center.
