Man found dead in trunk after fire identified

The man found dead in the trunk of a car after a fire on Tuesday was identified as Daniel Frank Gilberto by the Clark County coroner's office.

Reports indicate Gilberto, 49, died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Police believe that he was assaulted and killed after he interrupted a burglary when he arrived home just after 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the scene after reports of a garage fire at 1802 Glistening Sands Drive. After extinguishing the fire, they discovered Gilberto's body in the trunk of car.

According to police, there is no evidence that Gilberto knew his assailants.
