Man killed inside Plaza Hotel identified

A man who was shot and killed yesterday at the Plaza Hotel has been identified by the Clark County Coroner's office.

David Timothy Cordova, 48, was a North Las Vegas resident who died of a gunshot wound to his chest Thursday. The Clark County Coroner's office has ruled the death a homicide.

His wife, Maria Escalante, 34, was arrested and currently faces a murder charge and one count of child neglect and endangerment, Clark County Detention Center logs show.

According to a release from Las Vegas Metropolitan police, Cordova and Escalante allegedly were involved in an argument inside their hotel room, when the argument escalated and Escalante shot Cordova several times.

This is the 132nd homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan police department in 2015. Police said anyone with information about this incident can contact the LVMPD Homicide Section by phone at 702-828-3521 or by email at homicide@lvmpd.com.
