Man who died after being dragged 25 feet by own car identified

The Clark County coroner has identified the man who died Monday after being dragged 25 feet by his car during an apparent medical episode in the west valley.

Police said Gene Badal, 87, was trying to back his vehicle out of a two-car garage when he got out of the car and his clothes became caught on the car’s underside. The vehicle continued to move backward, and when it stopped against a raised median, Balder was pinned on the left side.

When police arrived at the Resort at the Lakes apartments at 9999 W. Katie Ave. near Twain Avenue and Hualapai Way, Badal was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are awaiting the coroner’s ruling on Balder’s cause and manner of death before investigating the incident as a traffic-related death.
