Metro learns Thursday that woman died from crash injuries April 6

A woman involved in what appeared to be a minor crash April 6 died later that day, Metro learned Thursday.

The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. April 6 at the intersection of Lamb Boulevard and Moonlight Drive, in the eastern valley. Metro did not respond to the crash or investigate because the two drivers involved drove away, presumably uninjured.

It was unclear whether police will investigate after the Clark County coroner ruled that the woman died as the “result of blunt force chest trauma due to motor vehicle collision.”

The crash occurred when a 2007 Nissan Altima, which was traveling north failed to yield the right of way when trying to turn left onto Moonlight and collided with a 2006 GMC Sierra, driven by 61-year-old Debra Jean Helton, which was traveling south on Lamb, Metro said.

The responding officer described the damage as moderate. Paramedics were not called and both cars were driven away from the scene, police said.

Over two hours later, Helton was taken to Sunrise Trauma Center by ambulance where she was pronounced dead, police said.
