Motorcyclist dies after south valley crash

A 22-year-old motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a car Thursday night, Las Vegas police said.

Officers responded to a call shortly after 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Eastern Avenue and East Oquendo Road.

Las Vegas police spokesman Jesse Roybal said a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Kristy Deleon, 34, was headed north on Eastern. As the Cruze was turning left into a business, the motorcyclist on a 2003 Suzuki, southbound on Eastern, lost control. The motorcycle hit the right rear tire of the Cruze, police said, and was driver ejected from the bike.

The motorcyclist was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and later died.

Police said witnesses and the investigation determined that speeding by the motorcyclist was a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by Las Vegas police.
