Nevada inmate serving time for sexual assault convictions dies

An inmate serving time at a Nevada prison for attempted sex assault and attempted lewdness with a minor has died, the Nevada Department of Corrections said.

Satur Ulat, 74, was committed from Clark County in December 2012 and was serving six to 16 years at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs for attempted sexual assault and attempted lewdness with a minor, the corrections department wrote in a release Wednesday.

Ulat died at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Hospital Medical Center, the release said.

The release did not say why Ulat was at Valley Hospital or how long he had been hospitalized. The corrections department was not available to give further details Wednesday night.

The Clark County coroner's office will determine Ulat's cause and manner of death, the release said.
