One person killed, another critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on I-15 near Jean

One person was killed and another critically injured Saturday night after two pickup trucks crashed on southbound Interstate 15 near Jean, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred at 9:57 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-15 at mile marker 12, said NHP Trooper Jason Buratczek.

One of the trucks caught fire. One person was pronounced dead on the scene, and another was airlifted to University Medical Center in critical condition, Buratczek said.

Two other people were transported to UMC by ground transportation with nonlife-threatening injuries, he said.

Details on how the crash occurred were not immediately available, he said.

“At this point, we don’t know exactly what happened,” Buratczek said. “It’s going to take a while.”

After the crash, southbound traffic was diverted off I-15 at the Jean offramp but were able to get right back on the Jean on-ramp, he said.
