Pedestrian critical after being struck by taxi near Las Vegas Strip

A man suffered critical injuries after being hit by a taxi cab near the Las Vegas Strip early Friday morning, Las Vegas police said.

The accident happened shortly before 2 a.m. A man jumped the safety wall near Las Vegas Boulevard South and Tropicana Avenue, according to police, and was crossing Tropicana when the taxi cab hit him.

The man was taken to University Medical Center, police said.

Tropicana’s eastbound lanes remained closed Friday morning from Las Vegas Boulevard South to Koval Lane as the investigation continued, police said.
