Police apprehend Boulder City bank robbery suspect after chase

A man who police said robbed a Boulder City bank Thursday morning was taken into custody near U.S. Highway 95 and Martin Luther King Boulevard about 30 minutes after the robbery.

According to Boulder City police Sgt. Aaron Johnson, a man entered the Nevada State Bank at 1000 Nevada Way about 9 a.m. and told the teller he was armed. The man then left the bank with $840, Johnson said, and drove north on U.S. 95 before being pursued by Nevada Highway Patrol.

The suspect, who Johnson said was driving a red Dodge Charger with Maine license plates, exited near U.S. 95 and Martin Luther King Boulevard when NHP tried to pull him over.

Johnson said the man then got out of the car and fled on foot, but was apprehended by police. Police have not released the name of the man in custody.

Johnson said the out-of-state license plates were not registered to the car the suspect was driving. He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center and will be charged in Boulder City.
