Police ID officers who fired during home invasions

Las Vegas police have released the names of the officers who fired their weapons in the early Tuesday morning home invasions that left two dead and wounded two more.

Officers William Moore, 34, and Ryan Rotta, 24, were called to Autumn Street, near Tropicana Avenue and Sandhill Road, police said Thursday.

When they arrived, they found that Cody David Winters, 27, and Natasha Galenn Jackson, 35, had invaded at least one home, police said.

Richard Ramos, 59, fought back in the first house, and Winters shot and killed him, police said. Jackson stabbed Ramos’ wife with a screwdriver.

Winters and Jackson continued to try to break into other homes, according to police. In one, Winters shot a woman, who was not expected to survive, according to police.

Winters came out of the house holding the woman he had shot, police said. He dropped her, and officers shot and killed him.

Jackson was arrested as she tried to flee.

Moore has been with Las Vegas police since 2006, and Rotta since 2008.

Both officers are on routine paid administrative leave while the department investigates the event.
